About the Event

We are amidst the abundance of Harvest season!  We graciously benefit from the labor of love and the growth from the sun’s light. Autumnal Equinox marked the shift toward darkness as we prepare our inner and outer landscapes for winter’s muse.

In many cultural paradigms, it is also the time of year to create time and space to show respect and to connect with our ancestors and loved ones who have left this realm. Ceremony and ritual bring the remembrance, honor, and love we have for our loved ones to life! It is also a time of harvesting love from loss by communing with them and by remembering the potency of infinite love and our innate resilience to cultivate peace as we embrace death, loss, and grief.

Join us for an “Evening of Remembrance” in the yurt nestled in the woods at Sacred Dwelling. There is no requirement regarding your personal story that you would like to show up for. Maybe you want to honor your grandparents who you were close with as a child. Perhaps, you have a recent loss and feel yourself searching for their presence. Maybe you want to find some personal healing and need to express the tragic beauty in your journey. There is a plethora of scenarios to be present with and for in this evening of remembrance. Grief is a form of love and a process of finding comfort even as the spiral unfolds in complex layers.  Come as you are to share your Love! Chances are you will leave feeling held and uplifted by our collective remembrance. All are welcome.

In this three and a half hour event, we will:

  • - Arrange a group altar in honor of our Ancestors, our loved ones, and ourselves. You are invited to bring special objects, photos, songs, poems, relics, a candle, food, etc. to place on the altar. We will also be creating a collective ‘bouquet of love’, made of roses, in the center of the altar.

  • - Watch a life changing documentary called “RE:MEMBER: Where Grief and Beauty Co-Exist.” We will make space for discussion in our circle about our personal response to the film. We will also contemplate the educational value of this heart-felt production and how it relates to our lives and intentions for the evening.

You can find the trailer and description of the documentary here.

  • - Create an altar box in honor of your loved one(s). The box will be your own authentic expression regarding your personal narrative. The process itself will create meaning in your life and give you a healing tool to use and take home. The power of metaphor will certainly be elicited and give you a sense of agency, connection, and well-being. It is a beautiful vessel to place your love along with what cannot be expressed in words.

          * The Price of this event includes all art supplies and materials a part from what you bring to add to your creation.

There will be hot tea, water, other refreshments, setup for a potluck.

  • - Part-take in a potluck dinner together (optional). Bring a dish in honor of your loved one(s) to share with others after our sacred journey together. Food is incredibly connective and alchemic in all ways!
