About the Event

"Birth and Death are the most singular events we experience-and the contemplation of death, as of birth, should be a thing of beauty, not ignobility"  Jacob Javits

Fear of our own mortality and unprocessed feelings of personal experiences with death and dying can create a general sense of fear in our daily life's. Fear that can keep us stuck in jobs and relationships that do not honor our true path. Fear of the unknown that can create anxiety that can keep us from living and aligning with our hearts' deepest desires.

This topic may seem daunting to some. Exploration into what keeps you living in fear may seem intense. If you are curious about this topic, trust into that curiosity. Together, as a community, we will create a sacred container to explore our personal  experiences, our emotions and our fears in relation to death and dying. This workshop will be deeply nourishing, supportive, liberating and healing.

The workshop includes:

~  Gentle movement

~  Guided meditation

~  Journal writing

~  Talking circle

~  Restorative yoga.

Michelle Gorman's Bio:

Michelle is a Registered Nurse, Yoga teacher, Intuitive Healing guide and Reiki Master. Working in hospitals as a Registered Nurse in a death denying culture, Michelle is very familiar with the fear, the emotional and the physical suffering, along with the  loss of autonomy, that people experience during illness, especially at the end of their lives.

After nearly 30 years of working in patient care, Michelle has witnessed firsthand the disconnect within our culture and our disregard for the dying process and death. She has witnessed how this lack of cultural acceptance of our mortality affects our loved ones when a life ends.  After learning how a Death Doula could show up to hold space in so many beautiful ways for those facing death, Michelle completed a course, with Going with Grace ,to become a Death/End of Life Doula.

Michelle has witnessed beautiful healing and transformation in community when space is created to simply hold space for whatever desires to be expressed in a safe and welcoming container in what she calls Courageous Conversations around death and dying. As we work through some of our fears in community around death and dying and our own mortality, the hope is that with the knowledge and acceptance that we, as well as everyone we love will one day die, we may live our lives with a greater sense of inner peace, presence and gratitude for each day.
