About the Event

Join us in celebrating the light of spring as we illuminate each other’s creativity! At our next Soundfalls circle, we’ll support each other as we take turns refining ourselves, giving birth to ideas both as individuals and as community. We are each individual works of art and part of something greater and more beautiful! Simply come as you are, or bring a paragraph, song, tune, poem, dance, painting, or any creation from anywhere as long as it means something to you.

Everyone is welcome, first 21 to register. No previous performance, vocal, artistic, or Soundfalls experience is needed.

Price: $38-$50 per seat, sliding scale; seniors and teens $25; anyone under 13 free per each paying parent or guardian. No groups larger than four please. Please read the cancellation/refund policy in the registration process.

You are invited to arrive 15-30 minutes early to walk a soft 100-yard wood-chip path to the gathering place, a brand-new heated yurt under a large canopy of cedars. Along the way, you’ll have a chance to connect with this nearly pristine area, leaving all your worries behind. Once inside, you’ll have a few minutes to enjoy hot tea and snacks while mingling with guests. We'll begin on time with a welcome, then share from one person to the next for two or three rounds without the pressures of performance or judgment, applause, or politics. You may have the option to hum or join-in on a simple song or two, but there'll be no pressure to do so.

The high quality of supportive space that circles provide has withstood the test of time, and it is a practice, which means that it gets better with time. It involves respectful turn-taking, listening, and honoring each other and the center. You do not need to be “good” at it, as the practice itself allows for great variation. In other words, we celebrate, but don’t highlight, each other’s differences. We do this through pure and thoughtful listening…without the commotion of qualifying questions or applause. You will very likely come away feeling deep interconnectedness and great hopefulness. To learn more about the Circle, go to some guidelines, which we loosely follow.

Since 2006, Soundfalls has been helping people rediscover and celebrate the sometimes hidden yet infinite flow of knowledge and creativity that surfaces when they gather and share in circle. Our mission: to uplift, illuminate and support people, their living traditions, and the important and often historic places in which they occur, for healthier communities and environments.

Our host, Maren Van Nostrand, founder and director of Soundfalls, specializes in connecting people with each other and their precious shared spaces for ultimately healthier and more sustainable community living. She has been a community planner, piano and percussion teacher, and facilitator of sound workshops, traditional circles, and shows. She’s excited about her practicums with Bobby McFerrin’s Circlesongs in New York, and The Circle Way on Whidbey Island, WA. She has also performed with many well-known orchestras and choirs throughout the region. To learn more about Maren, click here.
