About the Event
"You must give up what you are for what you might become" ~ A wise person
"What is Wabi-Sabi?
Wabi-Sabi nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect"
Come and join us in the yurt nestled in the woods for this powerful experiential workshop inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi a.k.a. ‘Golden Joinery’. Kintsugi exemplifies the spirit of ‘wabi-sabi’, which is a philosophy centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. Kintsugi is an ancient practice in which broken objects, usually ceramics, are mended with gold-dust lacquer. It reminds us that something can break and still be beautiful. Once repaired, it is stronger at the broken places. The cracks are where we are restored and renewed. Nothing is ever truly broken.
Throughout our journey of life, many of us are touched by adversity along with painful events, milestones, and threshold life opportunities that offer transformation. It could be a loss of a: loved one(s), part of yourself, divorce, job, health/vitality, etc. The overarching feeling may be ‘broken’. The process can feel like everything from a complicated tangled mess to exactly where you are supposed to be. Maybe even at the same time.
"The true life of the bowl began the moment it was dropped"
In this five to six-hour workshop, we will traverse a multimodal expressive arts process through restoration, introspection, and creativity by sharing our stories and how they relate to our bowl. The expressive arts give us the ability to reframe our experiences, re-organize our thoughts, and gain insight into our lives. Bowl breaking, specifically, supports emotional liberation and deliberate transformation.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Create a group altar and sacred circle
- Restore with movement and guided meditation
- Reflect through journaling and group synergy
- Engage in a bowl breaking and bonding ritual
- Adorn and repair your bowl
- Develop resiliency and self-healing tools
- Shape Meaningful intentions moving forward
Love investment pricing includes: ceramic bowl and art supplies. Â Please plan on leaving your day open to the six hour workshop time. This workshop tends to take time with the bowls and is accompanied by an intricate powerful process! There will be snacks and refreshments provided.
Please bring a dish to share for a potluck lunch together.
